Franklin Advocate sold to Keane Media, Inc.

Webb Family announces Sale of The Franklin Advocate ending 57 years of Ownership

On July 15 the main article in The Franklin Advocate of Meadville (MS) covered the sale of the Advocate to Paul and Doris Keane, who are also owners of the Wayne County News.   Paul is also the past president of the Mississippi Press Association.
The Advocate has a very rich history publishing since 1886, and has been in the Webb Family for 57 years.    David and Mary Lou Webb purchased the paper in 1962, a few years ago their Daughters Marsha and Heather took over when their mother became ill, and they began seeking “the right buyer” to carry on the family newspaper tradition since they both had other careers.
Lewis Floyd, Sr. Associate with Grimes, McGovern and Associates worked with the sellers to find “the right buyer” and to accomplish a satisfactory sale.
Marsha and Heather said they “are delighted to have found a true newspaper couple to continue the legacy of their parents”.
