Texas Newspapers merging under new ownership

Beeville Publishing Company recently announced the purchase of the Karnes Countywide and the Karnes County Times, two local newspapers serving Karnes County Texas. The two newspapers will be merged into one newspaper under the name “The Karnes Countywide” and will be managed by Joe Baker, who has been hired as editor for the newly merged newspaper. Beeville Publishing Company owns the Beeville Bee-Picayune, The Progress serving Live Oak and McMullen counties and the Refugio County Press. The Beeville Bee-Picayune has been in publication since 1886 and has been owned and managed by the same family since 1892. Jeff and Chip Latcham are co-publishers of the Beeville Bee-Picayune and co-owners of the Beeville Publishing Company.
