New York’s Cooperstown Freeman’s Journal sold

Effective with the June 2, 2006, edition, the 198-year-old Freemans Journal founded by novelist James Fennimore Coopers father has been sold, and it will remain independent and locally based. James C. and Mary Joan Kevlin of Norwich, Conn., bought the 2,000-circulation weekly from J. Michael Moffat and Elinor Vincent, both of Cooperstown. He will serve as editor and publisher; she will be co-chairperson of the Iron String Press Inc
