AL-Citronelle Alabama Washington County News Sold
Willie Gray, President of Gray and Gray Inc., recently announced the company’s acquisition of the Washington County News, a weekly newspaper published in Chatom, Alabama. Gray has been the owner and publisher of the Citronelle Call News, located in Citronelle, Ala., for the past 13 years. During that time the Call News has become noted as one of Alabama’s most award winning newspapers. During most of those years the Call News served as a regional paper, covering both northern Mobile County as well as Washington County. With the purchase of the Washington County News, Gray says he feels his company will take a step forward, since this gives his company a stronger control of the Washington County market. “Both of the papers have been around for over 100 years. We moved the Call News forward by offering more news coverage and a sharper look. We have a really great staff at the Call News and some of them will be going to work at the Washington County News office and together we feel we can bring a whole change in news coverage to the people of Washington County,” said Gray.
